Conventions of our trailer

Narrative
We decided as a group that we wanted to leave out the most important parts of the main plot because we didn't want to give too much information away to the audience, this keeps the audience interested even more because then they would want to find out what happens in the film.

Characters
We noticed that the most common main character of a horror film is a young female aged 20-30 but we wanted to change the convention and use a young male instead because we thought that women are usually chosen as the main characters because it is a stereotype that women are usually innocent and unprotected.

Mise-En-Scene
we used a bandage for the characters head because we wanted him to look as normal as possible but different at the same time, this also pushes out of the convention because the audience will not be seeing the protagonist for all of the trailer.

Themes
The typical themes that you will see in a horror film would be religion, tension, supernatural  and mystery but in our trailer we use mystery and nightmare, this shows that we have used similar tropes.

Lighting
We have decided to use low key lighting because it follows the conventions of lots of horror films that it includes low lighting which makes it fit in with the trope of darkness.

Locations
We wanted our location to be set in a typical forest because we thought it would give a spooky effect that would scare the audience because it is not the normal everyday setting that you see.
